Fluoride and Children
Fluoride, at low levels, can help keep teeth healthy by preventing cavities in children. Many Municipalities in canada have been fluorinated as a public health service. Even with this help, you want to be sure your baby is getting enough fluoride daily with these simple tips.
See a Dentist or Doctor
An oral health assessment should be performed by a qualified healthcare professional by six months of age. Your Dentist or Doctor can help determine if any supplemental fluoride is needed.
Use Fluoride Toothpaste
Beginning at age 2 (unless indicated earlier by your child's Dentist), you can begin to give your child a very small amount of fluoride-containing toothpaste working up to a "pea size".
Get Fluoride Treatments
If your Dentist determines that your child has an increased risk of cavities, the Dentist may recommend professional fluoride treatments every six months.
